The Proposal

The Casa Cural is currently in a process of slow deterioration and if something is not done soon we can be sure that in a few years we will see it succumb to the onslaught of time and lack of maintenance.

Making this building an attraction for tourism and at the same time a bastion of culture and the environment of our region is the main idea of the project. But it is not easy, especially for the expenses that will lead to your full recovery.

We would like to add that, due to the size of the building, it can include, in addition to the exhibition area of the museum, other shows destined to exhibitions on natural environments, a meeting room and conversations, various premises for use by environmental organizations who want to rent there a space, which in turn would help the self-sustainability of the project.

We think the effort is worth it. And there are people and institutions interested in collaborating in one way or another to have a Museum of Bocas del Toro.

To do this we would have to follow several steps that go, from the basic questions like Who? to the logics like How?, When? and How much?.

Who

The Catholic Church, who owns the property, is already counting on the support of the Catholic Church who is enthusiastically determined to make this idea a reality. That is why we are thinking of creating the figure of a Patronage that would include, in addition to the aforementioned Catholic Church and the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), as well as non-governmental organizations such as Bocas Alliance, Sea Turtles Conservancy, Chamber of Tourism Bocas del Toro, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and companies such as Bocas TV and the Playa Tortuga Hotel. This Board would be in charge of the design, proposal, elaboration and management of the project, from the very beginning of the activity.
